Puptails by Pals for Paws | Ruby Ruby - Krystal

We adopted Ruby last summer, she was in bad shape when she was rescued. She's playful, and has been a blessing to our family. She's adapted well to her new home.

Puppy's new home!

Puptails by Pals for Paws | Penny (formerly Freddi) Penny (formerly Freddi) - Matthew and Melissa

We adopted Penny (formerly Freddi) a couple weeks and she is loving her new home! She is becoming quite ambitious throughout the house and learning new things everyday. Her favorite things are playing in the snow, cuddling with mommy, and learning to play fetch with daddy. Thank you so much Pals for Paws for helping us start to expand our little family!

Update on Lilly!

Puptails by Pals for Paws | Lilly, also answers to Pill or Lilly Pad! Lilly, also answers to Pill or Lilly Pad! - Caitlin

I adopted Lilly a year ago last May! She's grown into an even more sweet and loving dog! She enjoys romping through the mud and shallow waters of any creek or on the sandbars at the lake! I'm looking forward to adding another addition to our family soon!

Update on Hope

Puptails by Pals for Paws | Luna-formerly Hope Luna-formerly Hope - Jeff and Melanie

My husband and I wanted to add a second dog to our family and after a lot of searching I found Hope. We woke up at the crack of dawn to drive almost 4 hours to meet her. I was already in love with her but once she was in my arms I knew she was meant to be a part of our family. She is doing great in her new home. To say that she is spoiled is a huge understatement! Because she was abandoned as a baby the vet said she was a little underweight but in the first 4 weeks we had her, she gained 10 pounds. She is now a very happy and healthy girl. Luna loves to play with her big brother, a 2 year old husky and the many toys that we have bought her. She is the sweetest dog I have ever met, she loves everyone she meets. It still makes me sad to think that someone could just throw such a sweet pup away but because of the amazing things that Pals for Pups does she is now in a home full of love and she will never go hungry again.

Update on Max

Puptails by Pals for Paws | Max Max - Adrienne and Trey

My fiance and I adopted Max in April, 2013. He is an amazing dog! We both absolutely adore him. He was already housebroken and hasn't gotten into trouble once in the house. He is extremely smart and knows all his major obedience commands (sit, stay, down, and working on heeling). He also knows how to shake and give high fives (thanks to Mary at Pals for Paws). He will do almost anything for treats. Our neighbor even loves Max so much that she gives him treats sometimes when he is outside and she even bought him his first big rawhide bone (picture attached). He lives up to his bird-dog breeding as a poodle by chasing birds every time he can. Luckily for the birds, the yard is fenced and they can escape, but Max can't. He also loves to cuddle, have his belly rubbed, and sleep on anything soft.

Max does seem to have a slight aggression problem with other dogs, unfortunately. He barks at them and will growl and sometimes snap when they get too close. This is a little stressful for us on walks and when visiting friends who have dogs. So, we just started obedience classes so we can get him socialized and learn how to handle him in these situations. He is such a quick learner I am sure it will not be long before he is the absolute perfect dog not only inside the house but also out in public. We are definitely looking forward to many wonderful years with him.

My Girl

Puptails by Pals for Paws | Sissy Sissy - Emily Harmon

A couple of years ago I lost my mother... I went through a very depressed stage where I thought that I wouldn't be able to make it another day. The doctors tried everything they could to help my depression but nothing seemed to work. I never had a good relationship with my father, and I never had many friends. My dog of 16 years; he was a black lab, and had arthritis in his knees and had tumors very bad, passed away in June of 2010. I was heartbroken and never thought I would find happiness ever. In the last year my father passed away due to heart problems, and it was very hard for me, mainly because I never had a good relationship with him until the last two months of his life. And then one day, about six months after my dad passed away I woke up with a different feeling. Today would be the day that I end this depression, and start my life over again. I turned my computer on and sat down at the kitchen table and started looking up all of the animal rescues in indiana. I came across Pals for Paws and was looking for what looked like a chocolate labrador retriever, when I came across Sissy. I could not take my eyes off of her. It was almost instantly that I filled out the application and sent an email to Mary, and I got a response back almost instantly. A couple of days later I was on my way to meet Sissy for the first time. Sissy was rescued from a Chicago shelter because she was abused. They were about to euthanize her, and that's when Pals for Paws saved my angel. Sissy met me for the first time and she wouldn't stop licking me. I knew right then that my guardian angel had kicked my depression in the butt. I went haywire getting toys for her, and treats... the works! Now every night I go to sleep depression free knowing that I have another chance at living, because I gave another hurt soul a good home. I can't stand to be gone from her for long amounts of time, because she fills my life with such joy. I hope I get to spend my life with Sissy for a very long time, and THANK YOU Pals for Paws for saving my angel for me!

Our Little Pup!

Puptails by Pals for Paws | Myra (Stella) Myra (Stella) - Meg & Matt Piekunka

A year ago today we adopted Myra (previously called Stella). She has brought so much joy and excitement into our lives. She is a silly little dog with fun little quirks. She is still very much the same dog we picked up a year ago. She doesn't know a single stranger, and when she is happy her whole body wags. We call her our little wiggle butt. However, since we've adopted her she has learned to love her crate and is still overcoming some of her separation anxieties. She loves visiting the dog park to socialize with her friends and their owners! Myra also loves to eat everything, and is never full! Her favorite treats include lettuce, carrots, and bananas. Her trick of choice is to dance! Myra loves a good game of tug a war with her favorite squeaky toys. She also loves to chew and dig, which are just part of her terrier instincts. Myra is the sweetest dog, and we could not be happier!

P.S. The picture is of Myra running on the beach and enjoying herself on a recent vacation to Michigan

Update on Ricky Bobby!!

Puptails by Pals for Paws | Ricky Bobby...changed to Brody Ricky Bobby...changed to Brody - Janelle Johnson and Ryan McDonald

We happened upon Brody (Ricky Bobby as he was known before we got him) at the adoption event at Petco in Carmel the first weekend in April. We had been looking for a puppy and came across his sweet little face on Petfinder, but had been out that morning meeting a few other puppies at different shelters. We showed up right before 3:00 and from the moment we laid eyes on him, we were in love. They told us we could take him home to foster for a week and bring him back the following Saturday if it wasn't a good fit, but as soon as we got home that night, we knew he was supposed to be ours forever. He has met several new friends since coming home with us, loves little kids, is doing awesome walking on a leash and is 100% all puppy. We couldn't be happier to have Brody as a part of our family. Thank you so much for helping us find the perfect fit for our family!!!
